Nina's Coming to Town

Well, really Nina was here and now she's gone and we miss her very much. On our way to see Nina, Michael was really excited and I asked him if he was going to give Nina a big hug and kiss. With great enthusiasm he responded YES. We were going to a party and there were lots of people and Michael's eyes were scanning everywhere for Nina but what he didn't realize was that she was right in front of him but off to the side. When he finally saw her it was a sweet reunion.

This video is the following day and Michael was still really sweet with his Nina giving her lots of hugs and kisses. We love you and miss you Nina.

More Christmas Fun!

During our holiday we also stayed with my family as well. In fact, we spent Christmas day with them. It was wonderful seeing my parent's excitement while my kids joyfully opened their presents. My parents went crazy and purchased half the toy store for them. The above picture is a motorized train that my parents gave Michael. You could not peel him off of it.

I was pleasantly surprised how excited Christianna was when she was given a gift. I thought she was too young to enjoy her gifts. I was wrong. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture capturing her joy.

More Christmas Fun!

Merry Christmas! Now that stores cleared their shelves of the Christmas decorations and radio stations stopping airing Christmas music we're in the midst of celebrating the birth of Our Lord. I always wondered how I would celebrate this beautiful feast when I had children . I'm not anti-Santa Clause. In fact, I enjoyed waiting and excitedly wondering what Santa would leave under my Christmas tree. However, I knew I wanted Christmas to be more than a jolly old man who brings presents.

Considering Michael recently celebrated his 2nd birthday that idea is fresh in his mind and is where we started, so for the last month we've been preparing Michael for Christ's birthday. We checked out a book where St. Joseph seeks shelter for Mama Mary and her soon to be Son. Michael seemed genuinely concerned that there wasn't any room in the inn for Jesus. We asked him if Jesus could live in his heart. He gave a resounding YES!

The week before Christmas we told Michael Jesus was very generous and instead of giving presents to Jesus, he wants us to have presents. He was on that idea.

On his actually gifts we wrote, To Michael or To Nana and then Happy Birthday Baby Jesus. I'm not sure what role St. Nicholas will have in our family's tradition but I know for certain we'll always focus on the birth of Jesus.

Michael loved the Advent calendar, also given to us by a dear friend. It truly helped prepare for the birth of Baby Jesus.
