St. Joseph and Dad's Day

One of my favorite events at Michael and Nanni's school is the Father/Child Day.  It's celebrated on the Feast of St. Joseph.  The day starts with Mass and continues with some olympic fun,  Here are just a few pictures.

Dr. Michael

It's hard to tell but under all that heavy equipment is Matthew.  Michael brought out all his tools as he operated on Matthew.  Nurse Nanni is in the background.

Designer

"Mommy can you please get me the glue and scissors. I would like to design a plane."  When he used the word designed I was impressed because it sounded technical. I know why he used that terminology.  Last weekend we attended a birthday party at the tech museum and he was asked to design a space craft that would fly in a wind tunnel. He remembered!  We will definitely return to the museum.

Lenten Project

Our Lenten project was making a crown of thorns. When someone in the family makesba sacrifice or does an act of kindness or charitable work, the children remove a thorn. Michael asked me, "Mommy when we remove the thorn from Jesus' crown will he have holes in his head. " I told told, "Mama Mary will kiss his head and the hole will be gone."  His question was sincere that I was caught off guard by his sincerity. I understand why Jesus says to be like little children.

Little Prophetess

The other morning Michael asked Nannie if she could pass him a crayon. This was the little prophetess answer, "No, it's not God's will." I thought that was so funny.  We must speak about God's will in our home.  Funny girl!

Look what I Found...

Today when I went to our bedroom, I found Matthew standing on a small bookcase reaching for Jesus and touching him. Earlier that day, Matthew was pointing to the cross and said, -"Oh poor Jesus, he has thorns on his head. ". This little guy never stops surprising me.

Big Boy

We were at Mass and I overheard another mom tell her son, "Matthew isn't a baby anymore. He's a toddler."  I guess he isn't a baby anymore. Everyone in our home still calls him baby. He even refers to himself as a baby.  He'll always be the baby!

Moses

At the moment Matthew is on a Moses kick. He was asking me almost every day to tell him the Moses story. We started off with his sister, Miriam, sending baby Moses down the Nile River in a basket.  I continued and told him most of the story.  Then this past Sunday when we were at Church, and were kneeling before Jesus in tabernacle, he kicked off his shoes and told me too, "Take off your huse, this is holy ground." You bet I took off my shoes.  It was the same thing at home.  He would tell everyone, "Take off your huse (shoes) this is holy ground." He did this for a few days.  So much so, that one day Michael was annoyed, and he turned to Matthew and said, "Stop you are not a prophet. I am not taking off my shoes"  Matthew just yelled louder, "Take off your huse, this is holy ground."  Well, at least they are arguing about holy things.
