Days of the Week

In our household the days of the week are highlighted by events. Monday morning I woke up and said to Michael and Nana the gardener is coming today. Michael squealed with delight, "It's Monday." Nana mimics her brother with gestures and squeals. Then all day the children joyfully anticipate the arrival of the gardener and proceed to watch as the gardener busily cuts and maintains our yard. Each day is similar except of course the event is different.

One Tough Boy!

This morning I heard this, "Nana you took my grapes. You have a consequence. No grapes, no moo milk, no peanut milk (almond milk), no farina (hot cereal), and no apple juice." Wow, he's tougher than me.

You can't really see, but Nana has Michael's grapes in her hand.
I guess she's guilty!

50's Baby

Both my kids love music, but since I mostly listen to talk radio they mostly hear children's music. Few people know I love 50's. I don't play it often, but once in while I turn the dial to 50's and belt out the lyrics. Well, the last couple of times I've tuned to the 50's, I found someone who also loves 50's music. She belts out the tunes, too. Not even with her own music have I heard her sing like she does with 50's tunes. It's really cute. I need to download something from itunes and tape her. We're usually in the car listening to the oldies but goodies. So keep your eyes open for the baby sock hop singer.

Company Picnic

Our family enjoyed a fun afternoon at Tony's company picnic. Unfortunately our camera died, but face painting, along with petting a pony, and having a family caricature drawn were some of the highlights.

Michael and Nana at 15 Months

Wherever we are or wherever we go people always tells us how much our children look alike. The other day one of my friends said Nana looks like Michael in a dress. Here is a picture of Nana and Michael at 15 months old.

This picture is taken in May, so Nana was already born.

Precarious Situation

Tony enjoys teaching Michael new words; a couple of days ago Tony said to Michael,"When you see Nana doing something dicey tell her she's doing something precarious. " Today I look and he's standing on top of the coffee table. I firmly told him to get down because he might fall off and hurt himself. He responded, "Mama it's precarious."

Heavy Weight Champion

Our heavy weight champion is in the whopping 5% for weight and height.
I was always told good things come in small packages.

Here are some pictures from today's outing.

Preschool

girls_high_school_1.jpg

The past couple of weekends we've been busy finding and buying Michael's school uniform. We did the obvious and started at the uniform store, but 2T is not a standard size for school uniforms. Pants were difficult to find but shorts seem impossible. We can't believe he'll be starting school this Fall. We are excited but it's mixed with some sadness. Our baby boy is growing up. Preschool today and college tomorrow! Michael, our social boy, is super excited about starting school, but you can tell he's processing the idea. When I first told him we would leave him there and pick him up when school finishes, he didn't like the idea. He said, "No, Mama goes with me to school." I didn't argue with him. Maybe two months later, he said, "Daddy drops me off in the morning, and Mama picks me up?" We'll see who cries, Mama or Michael.

My mom tells the story that when she dropped me off for my first day of school, I said, "Bye Mama," and ran into my classroom. I need to ask Tony's mom what his first day of school was like.

We'll see since he will start school in about 5 weeks. Crazy! We'll definitely post pictures.

Diggers Everywhere!

Lately Michael has been very much into diggers, and big trucks. If we see a large vehicle working on the road, he'll say to me, "Mama, tell me about it." I tell him what's in the truck and what its used for.

Near our home there's diggers and dump trucks working on some project; it's a boy's dream. Everyday he ask if we could visit the digger site and one day we sat there for an hour.

The other day, a digger book came in the mail and he wanted to sleep with the book, and asked me to place his digger toy next to his bed. I'm sure if we would let him, he would have slept with it.

We sat and watched this for one hour!

Big Truck Day

Today the kids were thrilled to enjoy time at the local library parking lot where the city hosted, Big Truck Day. Nana and Michael both loved sitting in the different vehicles. Both kids loved the garbage truck. In addition to the trucks, there was a police car where the police officer allowed Michael to say his name over the intercom. He loved it!

Today we enjoyed some fountain fun! As I was preparing to blog, I stumbled across these pictures which were taken almost a year ago today, so Michael was about a year and a half old.
